This is the Merlion. It is probably the most quintessential landmark on the island of Singapore. Here’s the Wikipedia info on it: http://enwikipedia.org/wiki/Merlion
Singapore is an island at the tip of Malaysia in South East Asia. It is the size of Washington D.C. in area but 5 million in population. It is, as my friend Nicole said, an advanced society. It’s clean, it’s orderly, it’s managable. Others have refered to the country as “Asia for Beginners” because it’s English speaking and if you want to eat American every night of the week, it can be had, if you want to eat any other Asian food, it, too can be had. The public transportation is reputed to be one of the best and the education system is second to none.
