First Day of Kindergarten

Ben's First Day of Kindergarten
Ben

Ben started school at the Singapore American School this week.  He’s on his third day and I’m still trying to get some information out of him!  He does say he likes it very much.  He goes for a full day – 7:50 until 3:00!  He eats lunch in the cafeteria with the first and second graders.  Today he is even getting his first “hot lunch”.  He took his first Mandarin class on Wednesday.

Ben was very sad his first day because he missed his friends from home.  However, we are making friends thru out the neighborhood quickly.  We have met great neighbors and one little boy in Ben’s class lives right around the corner – he scooted by our house yesterday to find Ben!

The excitement of starting school has been tempered a bit by two things.  First, we are not able to get Nicky into the SAS.  He’s been spending a lot of time with me and hopefully I will find him a place next week.  Second, Boo is really starting to struggle in Quarantine.  After Dave’s visit last week, reports back to us have been that Boo is getting very agitated and chewing up everything in his Kennel.  We have been advised not to visit any more and just hang in there until Wednesday.

  1. So glad that Ben is liking (at least so far, cross fingers, cross fingers) his new school. And it is no surprise that he has already made a friend. Ben is such a great kid, I’m sure there will be a flurry of new friends soon. Too bad Nicky can’t get into SAS, is there no room? I hope you find something nice for him as well.

And poor Boo!!! Is he home now? He must be sooo lonely for you all and totally confused I’m sure. But he’ll be home soon (or is he home now?). What a great reunion you will all have when you are together again. Now you just need your stuff and it will feel much more like home.

  2. Hang in there! It is not much longer until Boo and Jacob are reunited with their family. Just like a kid it always gets hardest just before a big change happens. I know he is going to be so happy to see you. At least until he remembers the last few weeks. You are going to have some making up to do! Get alot of dog and cat treats. Hopefully they are not as expensive as the milk there. The good news it it’s almost over.
