Bali Holiday Vacation

For this trip to Bali we decided to check out the East Coast of Bali.  We were guided there by now friends of ours who own a villa out there.  We rented their villa for the week.  It is in the small ferry town of Padang Bai.  There’s about half a dozen streets in the town and not much else.  The hotels are mostly back packer places and the restaurants are cheap and casual.  It’s definitely not a touristy destination.  But the snorkling is beyond belief and the beaches are beautiful.  We liked it mostly for being off the beaten path and sort of the “real deal”.  We don’t fancy the big name resorts at all these days.  There is not one of those around these parts.  One of the best parts of our vacation was the local man, Kumong, who was assigned to our villa to help us and transport us.  He was able to help us with anything.  We really enjoyed his part in our vacation.

We ate on the beach every day.  This is Adi’s beach shack where we’d have tea/coffee and Balinese style pancakes in the morning and then fresh grilled tune for lunch.  Really great food.  By the end of the week, I was standing in the shack taking cooking lessons so I could make the pancakes at home 🙂

and don't forget the elephant ride!
