Ben has been taking skateboarding lessons on Saturday mornings from a local Singaporean guy named Tobias. It’s just Ben and Tobias (with Nicky, Dave and me looking on). Tobais seems to be just right for Ben and Ben has been having fun. This past Saturday the common outdoor area that they had gone to to practice was too wet so Tobias suggested they have the lesson “under the block”. We didn’t know what he meant at first but quickly figured out that’s how a local person refers to the HDBs. There is typically a big open area on the ground level of each HDB. Sometimes markets develop in this area, sometimes you’ll see weddings or parties being held there, and usually they are just empty areas with few benches for hanging out. So, we went under the block. I thought I should take couple of pictures so we remember some of these every days sights of Singapore.
